Three cases of omphalocele, two ruptured and one large intact type, were seen at the Fatima Hospital, Taegu, Korea.
In one infant with ruptured omphalocele malrotation of the intestine was present as an additional anomaly.
All cases were treated surgically by the principle of Gross but fatal. The crobable cause of death was postoperative sepsis and compromised ventilation and circulation resulting from tight closure of the abdomen leading to increased intraabdominal pressure.
